Elizabeth Jane Williams: A Versatile Voice in Welsh Music

 

Elizabeth Jane Williams, originally from Cardigan in West Wales and now residing in Cardiff, has been captivating audiences with her versatile musical talents since she was 15. Her journey in music has seen her perform with various bands, from blues and jazz ensembles to contemporary jazz quintets.

 

Williams is known for her ability to convey deep emotion through her singing, often being compared to the legendary Eva Cassidy. Her performances range from intimate jazz sessions to lively gigs with her own Jazz Quintet, which includes accomplished musicians like Mike Frost on guitar and Andy Leggett on saxophone.

 

One of her notable achievements includes performing on Van Morrison's album "Roll with the Punches" in 2016, showcasing her talent on a global stage. 

 

Another being headhunted by Wild Willy Barrett of John Ottaway and Willy Barrett Duo.Williams whilst playing at the infamous Browns Hotel, Dylan Thomas’s old stomping ground , was by chance heard performing by Barrett whilst he was holidaying in West Wales.

Performs as a duo OMEGA TWO for over 18 years with renowned guitarist Pete Mathison who worked and toured with Ray Davies of the Kinks

Regularly performs at care homes and nursing homes through Musicare agency , bringing joy to residents with her soulful voice.

 

A ukulele tutor for Llanover Hall Adult learning centre . 

 

A tutor for Community Music Wales , specifically working with Young Carers commissioned by Barnardos .

 

Her involvement in various musical projects, such as the Wee Small Hours Duo and The Rhythm Aces, highlights her adaptability and commitment to her craft. Whether she's playing the ukulele, piano, or leading a big band, Williams' performances are always heartfelt and engaging.

 

Has Released a variety of albums over the last 5 years including one with legend saxophonist Andy Leggett  , guitarist Gareth Evans - Undersound and culminating with a self penned cd  with the Jane Williams Band in December, 2024.
